Fran Brown Emerges as ‘Cuse Candidate


Add Fran Brown, defensive backs coach for the Georgia Bulldogs, to the short list of candidates currently for the Syracuse Orange head football coaching vacancy.


Brown has northeast experience with the Temple Owls and Rutgers Scarlet Knoghts. At Temple, he served as the Director of Internal Operations in 2011, graduate assistant in 2012, and defensive backs coach starting in 2013. Brown was promoted to Assisstant Head Coach in 2016, remaining defensive backs coach at Temple.


During the 2017 and 2018 seasons, Brown was the Assistant Head Coach and defensive backs coach for the Baylor Bears.


He would return to Temple as Co-Defensive Coordinatoe and cornerbacks coach in 2019.


Following his second stint at Temple, Brown went to his native state of New Jersey to aid Rutgers as their secondary coach in 2020-21.


He joined the Georgia Bulldogs' staff on February 22, 2022.


Brown has yet to have head-coaching experience.
