Jimmy Boeheim Pretty Much A Done Deal to 'Cuse

Article by Dan Tortora

The Syracuse Orange men's basketball program has fallen victim to the transfer portal almost immediately after exiting the 2021 NCAA Tournament following a trip to the Sweet 16.

True freshman point guard Kadary Richmond, redshirt-freshman center John Bol Ajak, and redshirt-sophomore forward Robert Braswell all entered their names into the transfer portal, opening up three scholarship spots on the Orange roster for the 2021-22 season.

One of those open scholarship opportunities will see Jimmy Boeheim get to play with his younger brother, Buddy, and for his father, Jim Boeheim, who will be heading into his 46th year as the head coach of Syracuse's program.

My sources shared that one should prepare for Jimmy coming to the Orange following Jimmy entering his name in the transfer portal after playing three seasons with the Cornell Big Red.

In his first season with Cornell, he played in 26 games, starting in three, averaging 3.2 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.

Jimmy's second season, the 2018-19 campaign, saw his numbers rise to 11.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game, playing in 31 games and starting in 16 of those games. His minutes went from 11.9 t0 24.7 per game. Shooting-wise, Jimmy made 46.3% of his attempts, including 35% from long range, going 41-for-117 from beyond the arc.

In his third season, he played in 21 games, starting in 19 of them, averaging 16.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, shooting 43% from the field, including 29.5% from long distance.

Jimmy stands at 6'8", coming into Syracuse at the forward position.

It is time to start wrapping your head around three Boeheims in Orange, folks.
