Third-year running back Sean Tucker doubled down on Syracuse Orange football history in the 32-23 team win against rival Boston College Eagles on the road, where the Orange had scored 26 unanswered points before Boston College Eagles' fourth-year wide receiver Zay Flowers caught the ball for a three-yard score, making his own history with 29 receiving touchdowns, the most ever for an Eagle.
Tucker came into the 2022 regular-season finale needing 65 rushing yards to reach 1,000 and 48 rushing yards to rise up the ranks in Syracuse history.
He would end up accumulating 125 rushing yards versus the Eagles to get to 1,060 yards on the season, making him the first Orange player to rush for 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons (1,496 in 2021 and 1,060 in 2022) since Delone Carter did it in 2009 (1,021) and 2010 (1,233).
Meeting and surpassing 48 rushing yards against Boston College would move him past Carter as well in the overall career rushing yards category at Syracuse University, adding 125 yards in this game to his 3,057 career total, giving him 3,182 in his time with the Orange. That number places him third all-time in career rushing yards as a Syracuse player, behind only Joe Morris (4,299) and the late Walter Reyes (3,424).
If it was not clear already prior to this moment, #34 is well on its way to being in the rafters someday, courtesy of the once fourth-string running back who was ready when called upon, and has not let go of the reins since.
