The Syracuse Orange returned to action with a match at home in the Dome versus the N.C. State Wolfpack.

Syracuse came in on a four-game losing streak, while N.C. State entered with a record of 2-2 in their last four games.

The first bucket of the game by either team came from Orange senior forward Jyare Davis, who's been known to start off halves for Syracuse with scores this season on numerous occasions.

Syracuse took their first double-digit lead of the night at the 13:08 mark, 15-5, off of a layup by senior center Naheem McLeod. He would dunk the ball home on the next possession that the Orange had.

With junior forward Chris Bell's jumper at the 9:24 mark of the first half, seven of nine Syracuse players had scored, with the lone two being senior guard Lucas Taylor and true freshman forward Petar Majstorovic.

The Orange never trailed in the first half.

They led 38-25 at the break.

With half of the second half gone, Syracuse still held a double-digit lead, 55-41.

However, a three by senior guard/forward Dontrez Styles brought the game to an 11-point deficit for N.C. State, in prime place to make a run.

Wolfpack senior guard Marcus Hill's layup got N.C. State within single-digits, down nine, 55-46, with 9:20 to go.

A three followed by a jumper by junior guard J.J. Starling would elevate the Orange to a 64-49 lead, in response.

Overall, Styles aided the Wolfpack in the second half, scoring all 17 of his points after halftime after going 0-for-4 in the opening half, including 0-for-3 from long range.

His fourth three-pointer of the second half brought the score to 70-57 Syracuse.

But, Starling was taking over offensively on the side of the Orange, scoring 15 of his 17 points in the second half, halting numerous tries by N.C. State.

The Orange would end up winning by 14, 74-60, after never trailing for the entire 40 minutes of play.

Starling led Syracuse with 17 points, followed by Davis with 15 and graduate center Eddie Lampkin, Jr., with 14. Lampkin would close out the night with a double-double, adding 13 rebounds to his 14 points.

Styles was the lone Wolf in double-figures, with 17 points, tying Starling for the most by any player in this contest.

The win gave the Orange an overall record of 12-16 and 6-11 in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

On the other end, the Wolfpack dropped to 11-17 overall and 4-13 in the ACC.
