Bob Beretta, who has led the athletic department at Le Moyne College for the past 3+ years, is leaving “The Heights” to return to his Alma Mater of St. Bonaventure University, becoming the Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics for the Bonnies.
Beretta was an integral part of aiding the Dolphins in the dive into NCAA Division I athletics, guiding in the transition from an NCAA Division II institution.
This news of Beretta heading to St. Bonaventure comes ironically just a little past the one-year anniversary of Le Moyne making the decision to head to NCAA Division I, which happened back in May 2023.
Adding more irony is the reality that Beretta’s first major decision at Le Moyne was hiring Mary Grimes as the Dolphins Women’s Basketball head coach and the last major decision he was a part of was naming the Dolphins most recent Women’s Basketball head coach, Nick DiPillo.
From Dr. Linda LeMura, Le Moyne College President, on Bob Beretta heading from Le Moyne to St. Bonaventure: “I am thrilled for St. Bonaventure University and for Bob. I understand the powerful pull to return to his Alma Mater. He has done a remarkable job in moving Le Moyne to Division I. SBU is getting a seasoned leader whose focus is on student development and comprehensive excellence. We will miss Bob, but wish him only the best in his new position. Go Bonas!"
Beretta heads to St. Bonaventure after spending more than three decades in the athletic department at Army West Point and will now be leading his second athletic department after his time in Syracuse, New York, with Le Moyne College.
