The Syracuse Orange entered into this home contest leading the N.C. State Wolfpack all-time with a record of 12-6, including holding a 6-3 record in the Dome.
Inside the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), the Orange are 7-4 against the Wolfpack.
In the last 10 games, Syracuse is 7-3, winners of five in a row heading into this match-up.
Syracuse got on the board first inside 18 minutes from sophomore guard J.J. Starling from inside the arc.
Starling would knock down two threes to give the Orange an 8-5 lead, with Starling accounting for all eight points to open the game.
Sophomore point guard Judah Mintz was the second Syracuse player to get on the board, with a contested make at the rim to go ahead 10-8.
With over nine minutes remaining in the first half, there had been seven lead changes.
At the 8:14 mark, sophomore forward Chris Bell tied things up at 18 with a three from the right wing.
The eighth lead change of the night would come at the 7:29 mark in favor of Bell, who connected from long distance for his second deep shot, rolling the Orange ahead 21-18.
A long jumper from Starling would follow, Bell's third three would fall, and a steal by Starling on graduate guard Michael O'Connell would end in a fast-break windmill slam by Bell to provide the largest lead of the game at this point, with Syracuse by 10, 28-18.
After a technical foul was assessed to Bell following the aforementioned dunk and graduate guard Casey Morsell went 2-for-2 at the line, Starling made a layup and missed the following free throw, getting the Orange back to a double-digit lead at 30-20, at the 5:18 mark.
Syracuse would go on an 8-2 run from there to end the half up 38-22.
The Orange would get out to as much as a 21-point lead, 49-28, at the 15:55 mark of the second half.
Syracuse would never lose their lead for the entire second half, moving on to win 77-65 for their sixth in a row versus N.C. State, now 8-3 in their last 11 games against the Wolfpack.
The overall record for the Orange is now 13-6, including a 7-3 record versus the Wolfpack in the Dome, and gives the Orange an 8-4 in-conference record against the Wolfpack.
Starling would finish with 26 points, his single-game collegiate career-high.
Mintz would follow with 20 for Syracuse, Bell would have 13, and junior forward Benny Williams ended the night with 11 points.
Graduate guard D.J. Horne led the Wolfpack with 15, followed by Morsell with 14, and graduate forward D.J. Burns with 10.
