The Le Moyne College Dolphins will face the neighbor down the street for a game that counts this season.
Le Moyne will take on the Syracuse Orange in a men’s basketball regular-season bout set for Monday, November 4th, 2024, in the Dome. The game will be the season-opener for both squads.
This marks the first time that the Dolphins will face the Orange where both basketball programs are in NCAA Division 1 (Le Moyne is in the Northeast Conference (NEC) and Syracuse is in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC)).
Le Moyne, a longtime NCAA Division 2 institution, is in their second year of reclassication to Division 1.
This will be the seventh regular-season match-up all-time between Le Moyne and Syracuse in men’s basketball, with the Orange rolling out to a 6-0 record thus far.
Their first regular-season contest happened in the 1977-78 campaign where Syracuse won 90-62. This was followed by Orange wins in 1978-79 by a score of 92-60 on neutral court, 1979-80 by a score of 107-67, 1992-93 by a score of 102-71, 1994-95 by a score of 94-54, and 2008-09 by a score of 85-51. Five of these six games happened on Syracuse University’s turf, starting in Manley Field House and then to the Dome.
Le Moyne Men’s Basketball does have a victory against Syracuse in history, that coming in an exhibition game in the Dome on November 3, 2009, when the Dolphins defeated the then nationally-ranked Orange (25th), by a score of 82-79.
