Syracuse to Hire Jeff Nixon as Offensive Coordinator

According to my sources, the Syracuse Orange will indeed be bringing in Jeff Nixon as their new offensive coordinator as the team's 31-st head football coach, Fran Brown, shores up his first staff as the leader of his own program.

Nixon began his coaching career over two decades ago when he served as a student assistant for the Penn State Nittany Lions in 1997.

From there, Nixon would coach the running backs for the Princeton University Tigers in 1998, the running backs for the Shippensburg University Raiders from 1999-2002, the running backs, tight ends, and special teams unit for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Mocs from 2003-05, and the running backs for the Temple University Owls in 2006.

Nixon would move from the collegiate to the professional ranks when he led the offense and special teams for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL) from 2007-10. He would remain in the NFL as the Miami Dolphins' running backs coach from 2011-15 and the San Francisco 49ers' tight ends coach in 2016.

Returning to college, Nixon would become the Baylor University Bears co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach from 2017-19.

Heading back to the NFL, Nixon held different roles over three seasons with the Carolina Panthers: senior offensive assistant and running backs coach in 2020, senior offensive assistant, running backs coach, and interim offensive coordinator in 2021, and assistant head coach of the offense in 2022.

Nixon is currently coaching the running backs for the New York Giants.
