The Syracuse Orange men's basketball team's match-up with the Boston College Eagles marked the 87th overall meeting between the two northeast foes, with the Orange having a 59-27 advantage over the Eagles, winning 12 of the last 13 match-ups.

Syracuse got things started in their first possession, with true freshman guard Elijah Moore knocking down a three from the left wing on the team's first possession.

Moore would connect from the same area on the team's second possession, moving the Orange out to a 6-2 lead early in the game.

Then, by the 17:20 mark, Moore went down the lane for two to give Syracuse an 8-4 lead.

Graduate center Eddie Lampkin, Jr., would get the next two field goals for the Orange, both at the rim, giving Syracuse a 12-8 lead with 15:09 remaining in the first half.

The Eagles responded with an 8-0 run to go ahead 16-12.

Orange redshirt-junior guard Kyle Cuffe, Jr., would come up with the first steal of the game, scoring off of it on a layup that made it 16-14 Eagles.

A three by junior forward Chris Bell would give the lead back to Syracuse, 17-16.

Redshirt-freshman forward Jayden Hastings' jumper to give the lead to Boston College, 18-17, but a tip-in by Syracuse senior center Naheem McLeod put the Orange back ahead, 19-18.

Graduate guard Joshua Beadle would regain the lead for the Eagles on a three by the five-minute mark of the first half that made it 24-23 Eagles.

Junior guard J.J. Starling would get his first points of the game on a layup that gave Syracuse a 25-24 lead.

Then, the Eagles and Orange would trade threes, with sophomore guard Donald Hand, Jr., putting the Eagles up 27-25 and Moore moving placing the Orange ahead 28-27.

The final field goal of the first half would be a one-handed dunk by Lampkin to make it 34-27 Syracuse at the break, with the Orange ending the opening half on a 9-0 run.

Syracuse senior forward Jyare Davis would begin the second half the same way he did versus the Duke Blue Devils at home a game ago, by scoring Syracuse's first two field goals, both two-pointers.

The Eagles would shrink their deficit to just one point, 58-58, when Hand fired off a three inside five minutes to play in the contest.

Bell would respond right back with a jumper that made it 61-58 Orange with 4:25 on the game clock.

Syracuse elected not to foul on the Boston College inbound and sophomore guard Fred Payne knocked down a three to tie the game at 67 with 1.2 seconds to go.

The Orange had a final attempt that looked on line with the basket...

But it fell short, sending both teams into overtime.

Two free throws by Davis would put Syracuse ahead first in the extra period, 69-67.

Hand would respond immediately with a three to give Boston College a 70-69 lead.

Davis came right back down the floor and back to the line, going 1-for-2 to tie the game at 70 apiece.

Starling would go in the paint, turn around, and elevate for a jumper to give Syracuse a 72-70 lead, but Beadle would tie it right back on Boston College's next possession, 72-all.

Davis would go back to the line, and would go 1-for-2 again, giving the Orange a one-point lead, 73-72, inside 2:30 to play.

Hand went 1-for-2 on the other end, bringing about yet another overtime tie, at 73-73.

Senior guard Lucas Taylor would reply with a layup, only his second field goal of the day, to give the Orange a 75-73 lead.

Graduate forward/center Chad Venning went inside for the Eagles in response, making his layup and his free throw for the old-fashioned three-point play, putting the Eagles ahead 76-75.

Starling went 1-for-2 at the line, tying the game for Syracuse, 76-all, with 30.4 seconds to play.

The missed free throw on Starling's second attempt on this trip to the line made the Orange 9-for-20 from the charity stripe.

With under 23 seconds to go, Beadle would lose the handle, Lampkin would pick up the ball, and pass it to Starling, who would launch a shot that fell outside of the nylon, resulting in the game rolling into a second overtime.

Beadle would, however, score the first points of the second extra period, on a straightaway three to give Boston College a 79-76 lead.

Hand went to the rim on the following Eagles' possession, moving the score to 81-76 Boston College.

Venning would go inside for another two for the Eagles, providing them an 83-76 advantage.

Senior guard Jaquan Carlos made a tough two by the basket to give the Orange their first points of the second overtime, bringing the score to 83-78 Eagles.

Bell would then go 2-for-2 at the rim, making it a one-possession deficit for Syracuse, 83-80.

Carlos fighting for the ball forced an over-and-back turnover by Boston College with 1:13 to play.

Starling went 2-for-2 at the line following this Eagles' turnover, making it 83-82 Boston College.

True freshman Petar Majstorovic would put his leg out by the baseline and was called for a foul, placing Payne at the line, who would make both freebies to give the Eagles an 85-82 lead.

Starling would attack the rim for two, bringing the score to 85-84 Boston College with 28.8 seconds remaining.

Hand, who had come up big for the Eagles multiple times down the stretch in this game, missed both of his free throws, keeping the score at 85-84 Eagles.

Starling went 1-for-2 at the line, tying the game at 85.

Cuffe would steal the ball away from Hand and fire a last-second shot that would not grace the net, bringing us to a third overtime.

Davis got the shooter's role on his right-handed shot in the lane, giving the Orange the first points of the third overtime, going ahead 87-85.

Payne went 1-for-2 at the line, bringing the Eagles within one, 87-86.

Davis would score on Syracuse's second possession as well, with a turnaround jumper, to move ahead 89-86.

Starling took the ball inside once again, and once again, made the field goal, aiding the Orange to a 91-86 advantage.

A foul on Payne placed Lampkin on the line with 1:07 to play. He would go 1-for-2 to put Syracuse up by six, 92-86.

Bell would head to the line with 50.4 seconds on the game clock, going 1-for-2, to elevate the Orange to a 93-86 advantage.

He would head back to the line on the team's following possession, making both of his free shots to bring the score to 95-86 Syracuse.

That would be the final, with the Orange moving to 11-13 overall and 5-8 in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), while the Eagles dropped to 10-13 overall and 2-10 in the ACC.

Syracuse finished with four starters in double-figures, with Starling leading the way with 28 points, followed by Davis with 16, Lampkin with 14, and Moore with 11. Bell led all Orange bench players with 12 points.

Hand tied Starling for the most points in the game (28), leading Boston College, followed by Beadle with 16 as the only starters in double-digits for the Eagles. The Boston College bench was led by Venning with 11 and Payne with 10.
